It’s Hard Fighting Racists

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, as befitting my name, have I got some drama for you. As I was winding down my weekend on Sunday evening with a lovely squat on the couch as the boys’ faces were buried in their iPads, I popped on ‘ol Facebook to see what my friends had been up to over the weekend, the ones I hadn’t gotten drunk with over zoom the previous night, of course. I saw some shit going down with a good friend of mine and I had to back up the truck and see how it all started. I followed her posts from the last few hours and even jumped on Twitter to watch the show from that angle, as it was clearly taking place on more than one platform. I don’t do Twitter. It usually makes my head hurt and I only have an account for the blog (hey, give me a follow!), but for this particular friend, I was willing to pop a couple Advil and check out the situation.

Allow me to give you some background on this friend. She is awesome. We met in Boston about seventeen years ago when we were working for the same marketing company. We both parted ways with that company many moons ago, but have stayed in touch, attended each others’ weddings, children’s birthday parties and other various get-togethers, such as our annual Super Bowl party. In that time, I have seen nothing but kindness, love, compassion and inclusion issue from her words and actions. She went on to get a Master’s Degree and open her own business, all the while continuing her passion of fighting for social justice, helping the homeless community in her city, and being an all-around general badass.

Cue Conservative Barbie. On the day in question, my dear friend saw some unsavory words being typed by a keyboard warrior on her neighborhood community page, and decided to call them out on their racism, something we all need to do more of. Well, Conservative Barbie was not a fan. Have you ever noticed how much racists don’t like being called out for being racist? It’s an epidemic. Sorry folks, this is not a time for us to be nice. Being nice has gotten us nowhere. The only way anything will change is if we take a stance against people spewing hate. There’s a whole online movement, in fact, where unseen heroes take screenshots of offenders’ racist posts and send them to their employers. That’s right, human trash. There are repercussions. And, save it, because I will never be convinced that it is anyone’s fault but yours. Things posted on the internet are public and if your company decides they don’t need your racist ass representing their company, then it is your own fault. Deal with your choices.

Anyway, it’s safe to say my girl was booted from her community online group and this bigoted Tomi Lahren wannabe started in on her on Twitter. Now, as far as I can tell, this bitch doesn’t actually have a job, but has a political blog and ran and lost some local election that clearly I did not pay enough attention to here in New Hampshire. She also has a weekly appearance on a local talk show where the host self proclaims on Twitter that he is a “Right-wing, Bible-thumping, White-guy.” So, yeah, I think we can all see where this skank stands. Now, for those of you who don’t live in our state, it is no easy feat being liberal around here. In fact, it’s exhausting. New Hampshire is traditionally conservative, and we live with the motto “Live Free or Die.” It’s plastered on our license plates for fuck’s sake. Our community pages are so full of hate, bigotry and little boys compensating for penis size that we literally have to force ourselves to just keep scrolling before we end up in a public fight with some idiot who barely graduated high school and has never left the country. But, my girl, she wasn’t scared. She let that fucking goon know that what they were saying wasn’t cool (in a much more classy way than I would have, for whatever it’s worth) and all hell broke loose. It’s so bonkers that racism is so ingrained in our culture that people’s heads literally explode when they are faced with another point of view, or I should say, the correct point of view. Like seriously, we have receipts. Check out this nonsense:

I’m sure you can guess who Conservative Barbie is. What in the actual fuck is she going on about? Calling out racism and standing up to bigots is harming the black community? Oh, please explain, Obi Wan. My friend does more for her community in one weekend than the long lost blonde Kardashian sister has done in her lifetime. In a show of solidarity, friends came to her rescue to help fight the good fight. Blondie’s verbal diarrhea was reported, and of course, we had warriors jumping into the ring, like this gem:

As far as I know, the fight is still going on. I know they have attempted to dox her private business, which I’m fairly certain is illegal in our state, but clearly little miss politician thinks the rules don’t apply to her. If you’re reading this, then you probably know my heart, morals and beliefs. You know the people I surround myself with are good people, as I have a highly intuitive bullshit detector. Whoever wants to lend a helping hand in schooling some racists, we welcome you to the fold. Give my friend’s business a good review or jump on Twitter and lay some knowledge on internet Karen’s dumb ass. Whatever floats your boat. More importantly, just keep doing it. Whenever you see it. Keep calling them out. Be brave and go forth.
